Galway is a web editor programmed in Scheme using the guile-gtk (gnome-guile)
bindings that currently supports HTML 4.0, javascript, VRML 2.0 - 97 and
script-fu <and also some scheme =) >

Future support for CSS and MathMl is planned.

Currently Galway has Spanish, Italian, French, Danish and English
support. For further information checkout the manual.

I am experimenting with gnome integration via libglade. If you want to
check it, you need to have the gnome-guile package that it is only
available in the gnome cvs and the libglade bindings available on
the galway-module directory in the galway CVS module.

If you want to read about galway's future, be sure to check out the ROAD-AHEAD file.

Requirements:
=>Any Unix machine
=>guile+=1.3.4
=>gcc
=>gtk+>=1.2.x
=>guile-gtk >=0.17

=>gnome-guile (optional)available at gnome cvs under gnome-guile
=>flex (optional)
=>bison (optional)

Galway's being developed in a Linux PPP 5.6 system running in a
Pentium 150mmx with 32Mb of RAM.

Galway has been tested in the following distributions:
GNU/Linux MX 5.0, GNU/Linux MX 5.1, GNU/Linux RedHat 5.2,
GNU/Linux PPP 5.6, GNU/Linux RedHat 6.0, GNU/Linux PPP 6.0
GNU/Linux PPP 6.1, Corel Linux, Slackware 6, Slackware 7
and FreeBSD 3.3

If you have run Galway in a different platform please let me know.

Notes:
*'tis very probable you need to recompile and reinstall
guile 1.3 by yourself if you installed the rpm from Red Hat 5.2*
*If you are a Red Hat 6.0 or 6.1 user you need to add
export GUILE_LOAD_PATH=/usr/local/share/guile
to your shell PATH.
*The rpm was built under GTK+1.2.6, guile 1.3.4 and guile-gtk 0.17.
If you receive an error when installing galway or guile-gtk regarding
"libguile.so.6" please install guile 1.3.4

Use the install script by typing:
$./install.scm
This will install galway in /usr/local/bin and the library files in
/usr/local/share/galway

You may also want to try the rpm:
$rpm -U galway-0.x-1.rpm

If everything goes right, use galway with:
$ galway.scm&

If you want to remove galway from your system copy the file
uninstall.scm into your home directory and execute it.

If you installed from rpm do:
$rpm -e galway

Please remember to set the permissions so everybody can read the images
you can use:

chmod 644 *.xpm || chmod 444 *.xpm

For more information or bug reports contact the author.

If you want to check the gnome thing you need to do:

$ guile-gtk -s galway-gnome.scm &

Known Bugs or Problems:
=>When you create tables, selecting more than 50 rows and columns
  galway freezes for a long period of time.

If anything is wrong or buggy withing galway please let me know!
Bugs reports are the only way I notice some problems. Try to give me an
explanation of how did you find the bug and the output that scheme is
returning to you. Also, tell me about your linux distro, guile version and
every info you think it may be helpful.

Also if you want a specific tag, feature or whatever feel free to ask it to me.

If you use galway and like it, good for you. If you do not like it, please
send me an e-mail an tell me why you don't like it so I can correct things in
future versions.

You can also be part in Galway's development. You can help me coding, translating or
reporting bugs. If you want to join please contact me.

Go raibh maith agat!
